My succulent version of healthier oat apple, blueberry and strawberry crumble bursting with flavour and texture.
I come bearing tasty crumble joy. Check out this healthier oat apple, blueberry & strawberry crumble. This is my take on a fruit crumble that’s healthier then the usual packed with sugar and butter. Filled with succulent fruits and bursting with berry flavours. It’s Ramadan and the family want something sweet and filling for desert after a long days fast!
This crumble was just the thing!
Guys crumbles are like my go to dessert if i’m ever ordering at a restaurant. I legit LOVE any type of crumble. Apple is my favourite but after making this, I’m pretty sure this combo is my new favourite. So majorly flavourful and summery with the berries, yet cosy and warm. Warm crumbles seriously remind me of cold London nights indoors…pretty much most of the year.
As you can see from the step by step pics, its so easy! Just add the fruit in a saucepan when the fruits soften and cooked down add into the baking tray. Let it chill then make the crumble and add on top. So simple and so impressive in flavour. Family loved it, I loved! Real winner guys. And takes about 35 mins to make it total plus baking time!
*Forgot to take a picture for the crumble making step but its pretty straightforward in the recipe down below!*

Healthier Oat Apple, Blueberry & Strawberry Crumble
Succulent fruit crumble bursting with flavour and texture.
Ingredients
Fruit filling
- 1 cup blueberries
- 1 1/2 cups strawberries
- 1 apple
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 3 tablespoons water
Crumble
- 1 1/4 cup rolled oats
- 1/2 cup whole wheat flour
- 2 tablespoons light brown muscovado sugar
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 1 1/2 tablespoons organic unsalted butter
Instructions
-
Preheat oven 200*C.
-
For the fruit filling wash fruit, cut apples into small chunks and half the strawberries. Leave blueberries as they are and place all fruit in saucepan with 2 tablespoons of water on medium heat for about 10 mins until soft and slightly reduced.
-
Add honey and add lemon juice. Then stir until all mixed. (Add another tablespoon water at this point if it seems to thick)
-
Turn off heat and let the filling cool down. While it's cooling down prepare the crumble.
-
For the crumble mix the oats, flour and sugar together. Then add the butter and work the crumb with your finger tips until it resembles breadcrumbs. A few big lumps are okay!
-
Pour the fruit filling into a dish and evenly spread out, top generously with the crumble. I used all of the crumble you can use less if you desire. Press the crumble down with your hands gently.
-
Bake for 20 mins or until browned on top. Let it cool down for about 10 mins before eating you don't wanna burn your self. Enjoy!
