Cinnamon and Ginger Maple glazed baked donuts

Dry ingredients

  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • 2 teaspoons ground ginger
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda or 1/2 teaspoon apple cider vinegar

Wet ingredients

  • 1/4 cup light brown unrefined brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup Greek yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 egg

For the cinnamon and ginger cream cheese glaze

  • 200 grams cream cheese
  • 1/4 cup pure maple syrup
  • 1 and 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 and 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon maple extract
  • 2 tablespoons double cream (whipping cream)


  1. In a bowl mix the dry ingredients together. 

  2. In another bowl mix the wet ingredients together. 

  3. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry and fold gently until fully mixed.

  4. Oil a donut tray with a pastry brush or your fingers! Get a piping bag and pour the batter in to it. Pipe the donut mixture into the donut tray 3/4 of the way full. Bake the donuts for 8-9 mins at 180*C.

To make glaze

  1. Mix together cream cheese, cream, maple syrup, ground cinnamon, ground ginger and vanilla. Mix vigorously with hand whisk (or a handheld whisker) until thickened and whipped up. 

  2. Once baked leave for 5 mins to cool and then take the donuts out and cool them down further on a rack. Once COMPLETELY cooled down, glaze the donuts dipping top half into the glaze. AND EATTTTTT!!
